Jade with Lindsay who wants to give the kitten a permanent home. |
The 5-week-old kitten who was thrown from a car has a badly broken pelvic bone. The sisters made an appeal online to raise funds for her surgery. They raised $900.00!
A vet who saw a tweet about the Help Save Jade Facebook page volunteered her services. Last Monday the vet looked at Jade's overall recovery, and how she was functioning internally, and it was decided that she did not need surgery. They are going to let her bones fuse together. She can live with the left pelvic bone fusing into place along the right pelvic bone. However, as she grows, she will be monitored.
Since Jade does not need surgery, the sisters asked donors if they wanted a refund. They also offered contributers two other possibilities. That the funds go to the Jarrettsville Veterinary Center that helped Jade and also waived the charges or to Red Rover, a National grant program, that offered financial assistance.
The sisters were extremely grateful to the outpouring of support.
"I'm reminded that not only did your support allow us to keep Jade from being put to sleep, and give her this chance to recover or have the treatment needed, but now we have enough funds raised to significantly give to two great organizations!"
Yay for Jade! It is good to be reminded that there are some kind-hearted humans in the world.
